General George G. Meade School Library Mural

This mural was created as a part of Scholastic's renovation project for General George G. Meade School Library. The School District of Philadelphia was the 2021 the recipient of the Richard M. Robinson Literacy Champion Award and chose George G. Meade School to receive the grand prize, which included a donation of over 6,000 high-quality, age appropriate books, short reads for Guided Reading, instructional resources from Scholastic Education Solutions, a one-year site license to Scholastic Literacy Pro®, and books for students to add to their home libraries to encourage independent reading.

This mural was installed along with other posters and graphics throughout the library to encourage literacy and make the space a fun, inviting place for students to read. The mural was printed on vinyl and installed in a main reading nook in June 2022, and received coverage by 6 ABC Action News.
